I am committing a cardinal sin and going completely off topic. A mate sent this on today:

It looks like google are updating their Sydney Maps on Australia Day, so if you want to get yourself in google maps, check out this site to see when they'll be where in Sydney:

Sorry if you don't think this is as cool as I do.

I doubt very much that I'll bother going into the inner city and hanging around in the one place long enough to be sure I get mapped. Especially when I have a BBQ invite already. But I couldn't resist posting this all the same.

  1. Matt, believe it or not, back in the 1960’s, the first country they taught us about wasn’t our own country, Canada, but Australia! What does that say about the Canadian elite’s opinion of their own country…?
Canada was founded on the beaver trade. Europe couldn’t get enough beaver pelts for their hats…
… ok, I’ll stop with the history lesson…

  2. I googled it and I pulled up some pictures showing something like a top hat and other pictures of ‘trooper’, ‘trapper’ and ‘sourdough’ hats that to me looked a lot like road kill. You’ve intrigued me now – I still have no idea which one of the above you are actually talking about. FWIW we were taught about England and America. All I know about Canada was learned from some Canadian chicks on a New Zealand Contiki Tour and we didn’t cover the above.
