Arts in aid of the flood and cyclone victims

Lucy and Andrew, friends of ours who are into the creative arts, have drawn my attention to the REBUILD ARTS FEST: Supporting those affected by the QLD cyclone and floods.

It will be happening at the Annandale Creative Arts Centre on March 5th and is billed as “An evening of performances showcasing a range of talented musicians, dancers and artists … in support of many Aussies devastated by the recent floods and cyclone Yasi as they face the task of rebuilding.” See REBUILD ARTS FEST for further details and consider passing this message onto others.

  1. Lucy and I attended this event in Annandale on Saturday night.
    The venue was packed out.
Lots of variety in terms of art and artists. There were poets, authors, painters, rock bands, acoustic guitarist, a contemporary acappella choir, jazz and folk musicians.
The acts were of good professional quality.
There was a lot of collaboration by various artists, local businesses and creative arts organisations – not all of them church based. Lots of volunteers gave of their time, resources and skills.
A lot of fun. Good sense of community fellowship at this event. Hope to have more events like it.
Event raised $3000 approximately for QLD Cyclone and Flood victims (100% donations to Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal).
