Reflections on culture, nature, and spirituality from a Christian perspective

Recently, I came across an interesting article in Witchcraft Magazine that highlighted a local Asatru community called the Assembly of The Elder Troth. They’re dedicated to exploring Germanic Heathenism and focus on the study of Northern mythology, magic, religion, philosophy, culture, and history.

What caught my attention is their upcoming meditation gathering at Parramatta Park on December 4th —just a short fifteen-minute drive from my home.

I’m curious about how their meditation practices differ from Christian meditation, aside from the obvious difference in worshipping multiple gods and goddesses. I wonder how open they might be to dialogue, especially considering the themes discussed in the article. Perhaps this could be an opportunity for them to encounter a different perspective on Christianity.

I would definitely call and ask before crashing the party, but I would make every attempt to go if I were you. That is a real opportunity. Coming to learn. Coming to begin relationships.
Was that article written by USAers, or Aussies? It sounds like the typical hate-speach of Americans who are reacting against The Church. Getting that would be a lot to pay to buy access to their ears and hearts, but if you can afford it, go for it.
    Bless you.

Just a heads up– it’s “Asatru” not “Astartu.” Many Asatru tend to be suspicious of Christians, so it would help if you get the name right.
Otherwise, kudos on your open-mindedness and good luck.

Whoops. Point taken Bill. I’ve taken the liberty of typo correcting those last two posts. Anyway Ive emailed an initial enquiry and will see what transpires. Not sure if I even have the time to attend at this stage. Just seeing where the Spirit leads.
For reference Whitewave, yes it appears to be written by my fellow Aussies. I don’t take it at face value though. I was once vehemently anti-Christian myself. I am compelled to love the alienated in the way I was loved.
