Prayer Request from Friends of Turkish Martyrs

Last Thursday I received a prayer request from some Christians we know in Turkey. A German friend of theirs and two other Turkish believers (one pictured here from news reports) had been murdered while working at a Christian publishing house in the city of Malatya. The assailants are in custody and have admitted the killings were religiously motivated.

Having paid the ultimate sacrifice for following Jesus, his wife and kids are now fatherless. The sacrifice of the other two men was no less. It has been a very traumatic time for all concerned so our friends have asked for supporters to join them in prayer, for the immediate families and friends affected and for the Turkish Christian community in general, that the Creator may use this for his glory.

After some consideration our friends have decided it would be good for you to know of this request so I now bring it to your attention. Please pray for them.

They have asked us to be aware that this has caused a huge outcry through Turkey. The vast majority of Muslim locals were as shocked as they were. They affirm most locals are very moderate and they do not want to fuel negative stereotypes about what Muslims are like. So I urge you to pray for inter-religious harmony as well.

if I had words I would pray- but as I have none I simply ask the Holy Spirit to intercede on my behalf- I am challenged and heartbroken.

It made the fron page lead story in one newspaper here, but was barely mentioned in any of the others,
But followop sotries indicate that the backlash has been quite strong, with stree protests and all.

i cannot even begin to understand the pain and suffering that is being experienced because of what has happened. i am from OSU in Oklahoma, and i just want you to know that the university students here are being challenged to identify with Christ even in the midst of persecution because of the story of these 3 men in Turkey. Their deaths for the sake of Christ is challenging us here in Oklahoma to count everythin we have as rubbish compared to the surpassing worth of Christ.

We’ve been praying at daily prayer in our church. It’s a key time in Turkey, it seems; it’s important to pray for the wider impacts and the political climate too.

Please pray for the salvation of my best friend Sohrab, he is a non believer of the Zaurastrian faith, he believes that Jesus is not the only way to the Father but one of many ways. He is presently in India on a secular mission trip, I ask that the Lord take him off his track just as he did Saul, and renew his spirit. I ask for the Holy Spirit to hover over him and empower him. I ask that the Lord remove the blinders from his eyes and enlighten him with his presents. I ask that the Lord have mercy on him as he transforms him in this country. Let him come home with a testimony that praises the Lord Jesus every day of his life. Give him revelation that Jesus is the only way to the Father. I feel an urgency and a pressing from the Lord to call on the Lords prayer warriors to intercede for this young man, please come along side me and present this man to the Lord. Bless you.
