Great thoughts! That’s part of the scandal of Christmas! Acting out of love instead of fear is completely revolutionary in a world literally driven by it. It doesn’t matter which political party you are affiliated with (Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Independent) or what institutions you belong to, fear – leading to hate – is almost inevitably the driving force. In the Kingdom of God, which Jesus announced and enacted, LOVE is the driving force and peacemaking is the emblem to back it up. Praying that during this time of Advent, Christians take up the “good news” with fervor by living out peace and goodwill to all men.

Jesus was of course used to justify the 500 year long blood-soaked exercise of systematic terrorism against (almost) the entire planet, but especially the Americas
