Reflections on culture, nature, and spirituality from a Christian perspective

According to the New Testament, the manifest destiny of all nations—including America—is to be brought under the reign of Jesus Christ, where peace, justice, and righteousness will flourish. This destiny involves the dethroning of all powers—earthly and heavenly—that oppose God’s kingdom. Through the victory of the cross, Christ dismantles systems of injustice, humbles corrupt rulers, and overthrows spiritual forces of darkness, replacing them with his eternal kingdom of shalom and equity.

Paul affirms this in Colossians 2:15:
“And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.”

Isaiah’s prophetic vision echoes this transformation in Isaiah 9:7, fulfilled in Christ:
“Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.”

Finally, Revelation 11:15 proclaims the culmination of this destiny:
“The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever.”

This vision challenges nations, including America, to repent of pride and injustice, embrace the gospel, and submit to Christ’s reign, embodying his peace, justice, and righteousness in every sphere of life.
