Let’s remember that confession, before God in prayer, is about self-honesty, not self-punishment. We are called to face our flaws with courage, not to hide them in shame. The aim is to work through our failures to become better versions of ourselves, not to kick ourselves down for being imperfect.

So let’s not forget to be merciful and compassionate towards ourselves. Be merciful just as God is merciful.
