Reflections on culture, nature, and spirituality from a Christian perspective

Last week, I jokingly expressed my disappointment that the typical Easter-themed cash grab seemed to be missing this year. Well, no need to worry anymore. A reader just tipped me off about a new movie called Bloodline.

It seems we’ve got all the familiar elements: the Priory of Sion, Opus Dei, Templars, Freemasons, shady Vatican officials hiding secrets, and, of course, Jesus and Mary Magdalene’s alleged affair. While Egyptian mystery religions, Gnostics, and Cathars didn’t appear in the teaser, I’m sure they’ll make an appearance sooner or later.

Postscript: Egyptian mystery religions have indeed shown up.

Here’s a quote from the Bloodline blog:

“Imagine the immense power Mary Magdalene possessed as a master of Isis’ mysteries and Jesus’ companion. Is it any wonder the Roman Catholic Church suppressed her true identity?”

LOL.

Pffft! Those blood-grail theories are for mere amateurs.
Here’s a little gem which says Revelation was written in 1486 CE, and that Jesus himself was only born in 1053 CE.

I’m intrigued to imagine Jesus and Anselm sitting down to chat; perhaps on this view they were Augustine’s ghost-writers?

    Seriously?
These writers need to be…. original. If they’re gonna come up with a conspiracy at least make it new and not totally ripped off.

Congrats Matt! You’re faster than Wikipedia, they don’t even have an article on this movie yet!

Oh … pshaw … that’s an old one. I’ve seen others where Mary Magdalene is an incarnation of Ishtar as well. Or Venus … pick your goddess.
For some fun (if old) reading on conspiracy theories, get “Chariots of the Gods” and it’s iterations. That’s sure to keep you howling for quite some time.

Old theory sure, but they’re hinting that they actually have a body this time – of Mary Magdalene no less – and that DNA testing will finally prove the bloodline theory beyond all doubt.
Here is the footage which will change EVERYTHING … so they say.

    Convinced now you doubting Thomas’s!?

Oh and Kalessin, that was a howler! Here is another. http://youtube.com/watch?v=TNZ1esHVv2E&feature=related
I wonder how they explain away the Book of Kells and other ancient Christian artifacts?
And Sonja, yes Chariots of the Gods was definitely a classic. Never got through the whole thing but saw many a TV show inspired by it!
