Yesterday I came across this comment on Forgotten Ways.
“…what are the real life means by which we can re-awaken the hearts of followers to actually follow and not just be adherents but travelers?”
My response?
I think story. We have to tell rival stories. Stories that we can live by. Stories that invite…what if…?
Journey stories.
We have been sucked into stories of church as entertainment, church as chaplain to society. We need to embrace a rival story, of church as witness to the resurrection, of Christ as Lord of everything.
As a people with an invitation, a call.
I recently wrote on Glocal Christianity that I find the story of Paul in Athens (Acts 17) very powerful, particularly since Ive lived the story in Mind Body Spirit Festivals and in my neighbourhood. There are alters to an unknown God in the marketplace, for those with the eyes to see it and the courage to enter the story themselves.
Travellers are inspired to travel by the travelling tales of other travellers. We need to invite, come and see…
What stories inspire you?
