Ole Skjerbæk Madsen, a Lutheran Pastor from Denmark whom I’ve know for many years through a shared interest in tarot and Mind Body Spirit culture, has released a visual meditation on The Fool from the major arcana of the tarot. tarrot cards are interesting … sometimes they do portray the sort of a person that one is.

Very interesting. I admit that I’m a bit surprised Madsen didn’t do a bit more with the “new beginnings” aspect of the card, or the idea of the Journey of the Fool, for which this card represents the start or initiation of that process. It seems like there might be some interesting parallels to the Christian’s growth from new convert into spiritual maturity there.
It also seems a bit on the short side. But hey, that’s just me. 😉

Good point, I’m familiar with the journey aspect from “Meditations on the Tarot: A Journey into Christian Hermeticism”. As a card which potentially represents Christ (the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom) and those who would follow after him, it would work well for us to emphasize identification with the fool as the beginning of the journey of discipleship.
As for being on the short side, the average Christian lacks the attention span for serious meditation, much to my dismay. Evangelicals, with their word focus on the written Word, find it hard to go more than a few minutes without speaking or singing. Spiritual ADHD. Thus my emphasis on the living Word over the written Word, as he existed before noise was created.
