Above is a sample of some of the anti-abortion art I have started collecting. I’ve deliberately selected against art which demonises mothers or goes for shock value. What I’ve sought to do though is give a voice to the voiceless. And some of that is shocking enough.
I was in the X-ray unit at Sydney Hospital yesterday, where they had a prominent poster that showed a cartoon baby in a womb, saying “Psst! Mum! Tell them I’m here!”. They wanted, of course, to adjust the radiation usage for women who were pregnant (but not showing yet). It could be quite a political image in other contexts.

No doubt. As I see it, as Christians, it’s not our calling is not to condemn the mothers, but it is our calling to draw attention to the humanity of the child. Yes, tell them I’m here!

Interesting idea. I’m pondering a project don’t know how to get it going (probably starting it the first step). That led me to google “Anti-abortion art” which brought me to your blog. My idea was sparked by the baby bonnet’s symbolizing the women and lost children via the Australian Penal colonies. I would like to have massive display of baby booties, in pairs…to show all the feet which will never walk this earth, due to abortion. Thank you so much for listening/reading my meandering thought process.

Kim, sounds interesting. I think the challenging issue when it comes to challenging abortion is getting past the simple polarisations. Somehow, I think we need to surprise people, and knock them out of their habituated responses so that they actually take time to think.
