Is dance something you associate with the God of the apostles and the prophets? Christianity has a reputation for calm and conformity that at times strikes me as quite incongruent with the ancient accounts we supposedly hold in high esteme. There are numberous examples but just consider these two:
Dancing in praise, for whom God is
Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! (Pslams 150:3-6)
Dancing in thanksgiving, for what God has done
For when the horses of Pharaoh with his chariots and his horsemen went into the sea, the Lord brought back the waters of the sea upon them, but the people of Israel walked on dry ground in the midst of the sea. Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women went out after her with tambourines and dancing. And Miriam sang to them: “Sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously;the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.” (Exodus 15:19-21)
