Reflections on culture, nature, and spirituality from a Christian perspective

Doug Ezzy from the University of Tasmania has just set up a discussion list on Youth Spirituality.

“This group is for discussions about the academic study of spirituality and religion among young people. We are interested in how young people are finding answers to traditionally religious questions. Issues include how young people find meaning, make moral decisions, understand desire and death, and deal with difficult life experiences. We are also interested in the resources that young people draw on, that might include both traditional religions and new and alternative spiritualities.”

One of his initial postings is well worth a read.

He refers to an article by David Loy which argues that economics has taken over the functions of religion – defining our values and choices.
