Reflections on culture, nature, and spirituality from a Christian perspective

Hey everyone! I’m curious about the significance of the Hindu festival of Holi. From what I’ve read, it seems to celebrate a few things: (a) Krishna’s playful interactions with the cowherding girls, (b) the defeat of the demoness Holika by Prahlad, a devotee of Vishnu, and (c) the arrival of spring. Do different sects see it in different ways, or is it all mixed together?

Also, it kind of strikes me that there’s a similarity between Holi and the Easter celebration in the West. Both mark the arrival of spring and the victory of good over evil—just with colorful powders for Holi and decorated eggs for Easter. Does that make sense?
