Reflections on culture, nature, and spirituality from a Christian perspective

God, encircling us

God is an infinite circle who’s centre is everywhere and who’s circumference is nowhere – Augustine of Hippo.

A very abstrant way of understaning God, but a thought provoking one nevertheless.

Matthew. That is not abstract at all.
It is exactly how my Spiritual Master describes the Divine Conscious Light. Except that he uses the word sphere instead.

How is that not abstract John?
I mean, by way of example, http://www.thefreedictionary.com defines abstract as “Considered apart from concrete existence, thought of or stated without reference to a specific instance, etc.”
What would qualify as abstract for you?

Matt, Such communications are examples of the language of paradox, which communicate about the nature of the all inclusive Divine Reality of which our usual left brained thinking just cannot grasp.
Left brained thinking is abstract thinking. It is based on the presumption of separateness and the constant moment to moment action of separation.
See for instance the prologue 1 in this reference.

By contrast my Spiritual Master points out that all other descriptions of the Indivisible Conscious Light ARE abstractions.
    Why/how?
Because they are always made from the presumption of a “point of view” of being separate from the all inclusive Radiant Divine Sphere—of having abstracted yourself out of the Divine Sphere and presuming it to be entirely other.
