I wrote this haiku, based on Luke 24, while reflecting of the story of the road to Emmaus
Their eyes were opened
In the breaking of the bread

Thanks, Matt. Your post has inspired me! Since it is now the “Christian calendar” season of Lent for those who wish to make it part of their spiritual practice, various Lent-laden literature is flooding my Inbox, vying for my meditational attention… a kind of oxymoronic situation… trying to quieten myself within, to listen for the still small voice which would hopefully, gently convict, challenge and transform me in the deep places of my heart… whilst the cacophanous choir from the email list silently shouts “Pick ME! I’m the lesson with more. You need to engage with MY wisdom today i.e. preferably right now!”
Had to make a choice
Today your post won one through
I’ve written Haiku!
… as did another
post that came through my inbox
Isaiah 30:15
(Isaiah 30:15 For thus the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, has said, ‘In repentance and rest you will be saved, in quietness and trust is your strength.’)

I can choose to live
When choice is too difficult
Christ-death-life GIVEs strength
I can choose to turn
My life around and find rest
Repentance BREEDs strength
I can choose to love
The Way showed me how it’s done
Choosing Love Is strength
