Reflections on culture, nature, and spirituality from a Christian perspective

Because Jesus is Lord of all—of everyone and everything—we must resist the temptation to compartmentalize our faith. It’s easy, isn’t it, to keep faith in one corner of our lives? Maybe it shows up on Sundays, or in private prayers, or in moments when life gets hard. But then, as soon as we step back into work, rest, or play, it’s all too easy to leave that part of ourselves behind.

But if Jesus is truly Lord of all, then he’s not just Lord of our “spiritual” lives. He’s Lord of our work, our wallets, our conversations, and our choices. It means we don’t separate “church me” from “work me” or “family me.” It means letting Jesus shape everything: the way we approach our career, the way we handle conflict, the way we dream about the future, and even the way we respond to the little inconveniences of life.

The truth is, faith isn’t meant to be a box we open and close; it’s meant to be the thread that runs through every part of our lives. And while that might feel overwhelming, it’s also freeing. When we stop compartmentalizing, we’re reminded that Jesus doesn’t just want part of us. He wants all of us, and he’s ready to meet us in every part of our day. We just have to let his Spirit in.
