The Humble Beginnings Of Hope

Why does the birth of Jesus matter to me? Because it gives me hope. Hope that, despite all the evil and suffering in the world, God will have the final word. One day, war, famine, disease, death, and despair will be no more. Though these forces seem insurmountable now, I believe they will be overcome. I hold onto the promise of a restored creation, reconciled relationships, and a peace that will prevail forever.

This hope is rooted in my faith that Jesus has risen from the dead—that the oppressive forces of this world threw everything they had at him, and still, it wasn’t enough. His resurrection proves that love, justice, and life are stronger than hate, injustice, and death. And it all began with a baby born in humble circumstances, a reminder that even the smallest beginnings can transform the world.
