Palingenesis: to be reborn

A movie I was watching the other day mentioned palingenesis in reference to alchemy. Essentially it means born again. It has got me thinking on how this may be used in conversations with contemporary alchemists in explaining the resurrection and its life implications.

Now I recognise my Christian readers may be under the impression that alchemy died out after the renaissance. Well, not so. In fact, with the advent of consumer spirituality its been scooped up for commercialisation like all the other ancient traditions. For a concrete example of alchemical influence you only need to take a quick squiz at the grunge rock band the Tea Party who’s albums are suffused with alchemical symbolism.
